Dr. Ramon Guevara attended the University of Miami, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree. He then attended medical school at Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine (Nova Southern University). Dr. Guevara completed his Pediatric Residency at Miami Children’s Hospital (Nicklaus Children’s Hospital) where he earned the prestigious award of Neonatal Resident of the Year. Dr. Guevara was Board Certified in 1994. He has experience in Emergency Room medicine by having worked in multiple E.R.s early in his career which required stabilizing critically ill patients.
He has been in private practice since 1995, and therefore has been caring for children and their families for over 25 years. Dr. Guevara’s additional interest involves Pediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine. He has taken care of many young athletes that have since gone on to participate in professional sports.
His passion has driven him to always go beyond the usual responsibilities when caring for the health and well-being of children, adolescents and young adults.
Nicolas Cardenas, MD
Dr. Nicolas Cardenas is a Board-Certified pediatrician and neonatologist who obtained his medical degree at Pontifical Xavierian University in Colombia. Dr. Cardenas completed his Pediatric Residency at Temple University and a Fellowship in Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatology at Harvard Medical School. Upon completion of his post graduate training, Dr. Cardenas worked at Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad in Caracas, Venezuela. For over 30 years, he has worked as a Neonatologist, Pediatrician and Professor.
Dr. Cardenas joined Pediatrics of South Florida in August of 2021. He brings his many years of experience in direct patient management, involving consultations and hospitalizations, and aims to provide excellent medical care to the children and families of Key Biscayne.

Kristen Velez, APRN, FNP-BC
Kristen Velez APRN, FNP-BC
Kristen Velez is a board-certified, Family Nurse Practitioner. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida and has always had an interest and passion for the medical field. Kristen attended Florida International University and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. As an undergraduate, she was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the International Honor Society of Nursing. Upon graduation, Kristen pursued her interest and worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital for 5 years.
Kristen then returned to Florida International University and earned a Master of Science Degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner. Kristen is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and licensed to practice in Florida. She has worked at Pediatrics of South Florida since 2019 and is very passionate about her work. Kristen is also an active member of the American Nurses Association. Kristen enjoys spending her time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She also enjoys baking and traveling.
Suez Rosales Soto APRN, FNP-BC
Suez Rosales Soto is a board-certified, Family Nurse Practitioner. She is originally from Havana, Cuba where she attended medical school at Victoria of Girón. She then became a Pediatrician and Neonatologist for Gonzales Coro Hospital. When She moved to the United States she began her medical journey once again. After completing her requirements to become a Registered Nurse, she attended Miami Regional University and received a Master of Science Degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner.
She has worked at Pediatrics of South Florida since 2013. Suez enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, watching movies, and reading books.
